Fluid computing: Unifying cloud, fog, and mist computing
Fluid computing: Unifying cloud, fog, and mist computing

In the first two installments of this blog series, we initially looked at the challenges introduced by cloud-centric architectures and how they motivated the rise of fog computing. Next, we defined what fog computing really means and the kind of problems it solves. For completeness, we need to also introduce mist computing. Have you ever heard of it?

IIoT devices: Combatting the decreasing endurance of flash memory
IIoT devices: Combatting the decreasing endurance of flash memory

As we enter the age of the Industrial Internet of Things, the amount of data IIoT devices create, process, and transmit continues to increase at an astounding rate, meaning that using flash parts with low endurance will limit the effectiveness of devices. Thus, we often hear the question – what techniques can be used to make sure writes (and hence erases) are held to a minimum while still providing the level of performance and reliability that embedded devices require?

The PixController system will monitor the emissions coming from entire supply chains, from the oil pad all the way down to the production facility. Apparently there are a relatively high number of leaks, and with the coming regulation, the entire supply chain will be required to monitor and fix those leaks. The PixController system will allow the monitoring to occur in real time, regardless of where they occur.
